From April to May my cow-friends and I gradually produce less and less milk each day until we stop.
This is often called drying-off.
The days are cooler and the autumn rains mean that the grass is growing well. My cow-friends and I start to gain more weight and condition as the busy days of summer milking are behind us.
There is more time in the day to find a spot under a shady tree to chew my cud and watch the clouds float by.
Many of those crops that the farmer planted in summer are ready for harvesting so large harvesting machinery often visits the farm.
