During the winter I'm on holiday, having a break. Just like you in your school holidays.
My cow-friends and I spend our days eating plenty of grass and relaxing, preparing for the birth of our calves in spring.
It’s a longer break than the few weeks kids at school get at the end of each term, but I only get one each year as I am milked every day from August until May.
Farmers get a bit of a break as well, although they spend this time servicing machinery and preparing for the busy start to the new milking season.
It is also the time of year when they plan ahead for next season and prepare budgets and plans for feed and milk production as well as financial performance.
