Eelaine the Eel

Eelaine

Hello darlings, my name is Eelaine

I’m an eel, and I’m probably older than you. I’ve seen a lot in my years, and I’ve been to a lot of places. Travelling was one of my favourite pastimes when I was young.

Before settling down in the Waikato river by Stu’s place where I live now, I swam around a lot of the pacific islands like Tonga and New Caledonia, as well as most of the streams and rivers in the North Island.

While on my journeys I endeavoured to learn as much as possible about every place I visited by talking to the locals and asking them heaps of questions about life in their part of the world. Unfortunately this lead to myself being labelled a busy-body and a know-it-all, which is silly. It’s not my fault that I’m so smart, knowledgeable, fancy and sophisticated is it my darlings?

Just because I don’t like to eat the same food like insects, worms and grubs that the common eels eat, it doesn’t mean I’m stuck up! My refined pallet prefers fresh water crayfish, and nice stale bread, which is why I always try to make my home where children are likely to be found. Kids love to feed a tame eel pieces of bread - especially a distinguished, elegant looking eel like myself.
